Hadley Berkowitz Landscape Design creates ecologically focused landscapes in the Metrowest suburbs of Boston and on Martha’s Vineyard, helping homeowners engage with the natural world outside their doorsteps. By carefully selecting plants that are native to the region as well as those that are adapted to the area, the designed landscape will thrive with reduced maintenance and resources and create a more harmonious natural environment. My goal is to create a landscape that reflects the regional aesthetic and reinforces a distinct sense of place.

Using a collaborative approach to design, I can help you create a personalized outdoor space that you and your family and friends will enjoy for years to come.

"The glory of gardening: hands in the dirt, head in the sun, heart with nature. To nurture a garden is to feed not just the body, but the soul." -Alfred Austin

Hadley Berkowitz is a writer, photographer and lifelong plant enthusiast. After a career in publishing, her interest in horticulture led her to the Boston Architectural College, where she studied fundamentals of landscape and planting design, botany, landscape history, and sustainability. She earned a certificate in landscape design from the renowned Landscape Institute in 2016. She is a certified master gardener and an active member of the Massachusetts Master Gardener Association, writing monthly features on native plants for the organization’s newsletter. Hadley serves as President of the Board of Directors of COGdesign, a non profit that provides pro bono landscape design services to community groups in Greater Boston. Before joining the board, Hadley designed two community projects for the organization, including the entrance to the Fenway Victory Gardens and the Magnolia Street Garden in Roxbury, a park and community garden space that recently received funding from the Boston Community Preservation Act. Hadley is committed to ensuring access to green space for historically underserved communities in the Greater Boston area.
